Saturday, September 23, 2023, marked the 3rd year Coopertown Police have hosted a Touch-A-Truck event for the community. The 1st annual event coincided with Coopertown’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. The 2nd annual Touch-A-Truck was held in conjunction with the Coopertown stop for Experience Robertson County. Coopertown Police hosted this year’s stand-alone event at Coopertown Middle School. Touch-A-Truck is a fun event providing the opportunity for the community to get an up-close look at the equipment and resources used by first responders and various agencies that support the Coopertown community. There was a Search And Rescue (SAR) demonstration put on by the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and Coopertown Police Department. While watching a video monitor displaying drone footage from the Coopertown Police sUAS Pilot Team, visitors were able to watch as EMA’s K-9 team located an individual hiding in the woods. Additionally, music and games were on hand to entertain. Visitors had the opportunity to dunk a cop. Donations received by Coopertown Police at this event benefit the agency’s Shop-With-A-Cop program that helps ensure disadvantaged children have gifts for Christmas.
Throughout the year, the Coopertown Police Department puts on community events and accepts donations at those events to support the agency’s annual Shop-With-A-Cop program, helping ensure disadvantaged children receive gifts for Christmas.
