Coopertown Police Department is continuously seeking opportunities to partner with the community to foster strong relationships, offer assistance, and educate. Some of the events and programs the department is involved in:
Coopertown, originally named Naive’s Crossroads, derived its name from the whiskey barrel production from the 1800’s cooper shop for the nearby Red River Mills Distillery.
† The first annual Barrel Festival was hosted by the Town of Coopertown in 2013 as an effort to raise awareness of Coopertown’s heritage in the cooperage industry, as well as raise funds to better the community. The festival features live
music, food, various vendors, historical exhibits, tractors, cooper demonstrations, a car show, and a 5-mile run.

The Coopertown Police Department (CPD) has been proud to be a part of the Barrel Festival. In 2019, CPD hosted a dunking booth to allow visitors the opportunity to dunk a cop. Former Coopertown Mayor, Glen Guyor also volunteered to be dunked.
Proceeds from the event were donated to Coopertown Elementary School through the purchase of portable radios. On January 6, 2020, Coopertown Police presented 45 portable radios to Coopertown Elementary School Principal, Tiffany Hyde, to help maintain
safety of the students and staff during an emergency.

TDOT YELLOW DOT PROGRAM
Coopertown Police Department is designated as a Yellow DOT enrollment center. The Tennessee Yellow DOT Program is designed to provide first responders with an individual’s medical information in the event of an emergency on Tennessee’s
roadways. The information can mean the difference between life and death in the “Golden Hour” immediately following a serious incident.
For more information from TDOT regarding the Yellow DOT program visit the TDOT Yellow DOT website.
Click here for a copy of the Yellow DOT Medical Information Form. You may pick up Yellow DOT packets at Coopertown Police
Department. They are available for passenger vehicles and motorcycles. If you are not able to provide a recent photo for the packet, we can take your photo and assist with completing the packet.
Once completed, the packet remains in your glove box and the enclosed decal goes on the vehicle's left, bottom corner of the back window. The sticker indicates to First Responders that you have a Yellow DOT packet in your glove
box with important medical and emergency information. The packet does not contain your social security number and only YOU retain the information in the packet.

SHOP WITH A COP
Each December, Coopertown Police, in cooperation with Robertson County Schools, host a Shop-With-A-Cop event to help ensure children in Coopertown have a memorable Christmas. The event is made possible through generous donations from the community, local businesses, and Coopertown employees. Some of the donations are raised during annual community engagement events hosted by Coopertown Police.
Children from Coopertown Elementary and Middle schools are transported to WalMart in Springfield by bus. Once there, the children are partnered with Law Enforcement Officers, Coopertown Officials and Employees, and other volunteers to help the children shop. WalMart designates a register specifically for the event and refreshments are made available. Afterwards, the children are treated to Happy Meals, courtesy of McDonalds in Springfield.
Shop With A Cop is a way for Coopertown Police to help ensure underprivileged children are able to have gifts for Christmas. The event also helps foster a positive influence between our community’s youth and our law enforcement.
The Coopertown Police Department 1st Annual Ride4Kidz Motorcycle Ride, sponsored by Appleton Harley-Davidson, got underway on Saturday, October 22, 2022, to benefit the agency's annual Shop With A Cop program, ensuring disadvantaged children receive Christmas gifts. Mayor Becca Werner was in attendance, proudly flying the American and Ride4Kidz flags. The route was a scenic ride into Kentucky, stopping for lunch at Roys Bar-B-Que, before returning to Coopertown. Prizes were raffled at lunch and at the conclusion of the ride. Special thanks to all the volunteers and riders who made this event possible.
