On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Coopertown Police Chief Tyler Haley presented awards during the Coopertown Board Of Mayor and Alderman (BOMA) meeting. The Coopertown Police Citizen Service Award is presented to any citizen who performs an act of bravery or exceptional service to the community that involves law enforcement. Bill and Lori Morris were awarded the Citizen Service Award for rendering assistance to a victim of abuse. Their selfless acts have reflected great credit upon themselves and the Town of Coopertown.
The Coopertown Police Commendation Certificate is awarded to any officer or civilian who brings credit to himself/herself by above average achievement. Town of Coopertown City Recorder, Emily McKellar was awarded the Coopertown Police Commendation Certificate to recognize her hard work by providing backup assistance to the Police Department’s Clerk. Her hard work reflects great credit upon herself, the Coopertown Police Department, and the Town of Coopertown.
The Coopertown Police Star Bar is awarded to officers whom the Chief designates as “Officer of the Year.” Criteria for this award includes unusual devotion to duty, exemplary job performance and extraordinary achievement during the year. Officer Kayleigh Brown was awarded Officer of the Year for 2021 for her exemplary performance throughout the year. Her devotion to duty reflects great credit upon herself, the Coopertown Police Department, and the Town of Coopertown.
The Coopertown Police Medal of Merit Bar is awarded to an officer who distinguishes himself/herself in the line of duty by exceptional heroism. The act performed must have involved the voluntary risk of life. Sergeant Levert Jackson was awarded the Coopertown Police Medal of Merit Bar for his brave actions and risk of life to save another rescuer during an attempt to save livestock in a cold water rescue. His heroism and selfless acts have reflected great credit upon himself, the Coopertown Police Department, and the Town of Coopertown.
