April Is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Coopertown, Tennessee

Coopertown Police are proud to participate in the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Robertson County Virtual Pinwheel Garden event to bring awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Did you know that in 2020, there were approximately two million children in the United States that received prevention services? Nearly twenty-two percent of confirmed child maltreatment cases resulted in removing those victims from their abusive homes (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) § 37-1-403 and § 37-1-605 require anyone with knowledge or suspicion of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child to report it. Reporting can be accomplished online or by calling 877-237-0004 (TN Department of Children’s Services, n.d.).
