Coopertown, Tennessee
All throughout the year, Coopertown Police host several community events to engage and help foster a positive relationship between the community and the police department. During each event, the department also accepts donations for the agency’s Shop-With-A-Cop event, designed to take disadvantaged children from the Coopertown community Christmas shopping. The event is funded by donations alone. Without community support, this wonderful event would not be possible.
There are many children who may not be able to experience the joy of having gifts for Christmas. Coopertown Police have partnered with Robertson County Schools to help identify those children, and ensure they have a merry Christmas season. Thanks to the generous donations received and through the help of many volunteers, Coopertown Police were able to take 31 children Christmas shopping this year. Each year’s Shop-With-A-Cop budget may vary depending on donations received. This year, each child was able to spend $150.
Students from Coopertown Elementary School and Coopertown Middle School were bused to Walmart in Springfield for the event. Once there, they were assigned to a Police Officer, Trooper, or event volunteer to begin shopping. Once the event was completed, the students were treated to lunch at Chick-fil-a.
Coopertown Police would like to thank everyone who generously donated, volunteered, or sponsored any of the community events, such as Jeeps4LittlePeeps, Ride4Kidz Motorcycle Ride, and Touch-A-Truck. Your support helped make Shop-With-A-Cop a successful event.
