The Coopertown Police Department will be hosting a Coffee With A Cop event at Coopertown City Hall on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, during National Coffee With A Cop Day. The event is a chance for the community and law enforcement to come together in an informal setting with no agenda or speeches.
About Coffee With A Cop
Coffee with A Cop began in 2011 in Hawthorne, California, when officers from the Hawthorne Police Department were seeking new methods to interact with the community they served each day. The Hawthorne Police Department used a simple strategy to tear down the barriers that had been created over time: a cup of coffee. Coffee with a Cop events are currently held in all 50 states and are widely regarded as one of the most effective community-oriented policing initiatives in the country. Outside the United States, the program has expanded to Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Latin America. The secret to the growing success of Coffee with a Cop is that it allows for conversations outside of the traumatic events that traditionally bring law enforcement personnel and community members together (Coffee With A Cop, n.d.).
