The THSO\u2019s statewide <em>Booze It and Lose It <\/em>campaign is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration\u2019s <em>Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over<\/em> nationwide mobilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Coopertown Police Department will be on high alert to ensure that no one is driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Not only do we want to keep impaired drivers off the road, but we also want to advise all drivers not to drink and drive or to drive while taking medicine that may cause drowsiness. Our officers will be patrolling\u00a0the streets, stopping offenders and keeping an eye out for impaired drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"585\" height=\"196\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/coopertownpd.org\/cpdwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image.png?resize=585%2C196&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-976\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/coopertownpd.org\/cpdwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image.png?w=585&amp;ssl=1 585w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/coopertownpd.org\/cpdwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image.png?resize=300%2C101&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Increased state and national messaging about the dangers of drunk driving, coupled with increased sobriety checkpoints and high visibility enforcement, aim to drastically reduce the number of drunk-driving crashes, injuries, and fatalities this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consequences of a single DUI conviction for a first-time offender in the state of Tennessee may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment, and\/or the installation of an ignition interlock device in his\/her vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The THSO provides grant funding to support Coopertown Police Department\u2019s increased enforcement efforts during the <em>Booze It and Lose It<\/em> holiday campaign.
