Below 100 & DUI Refresher – Law Enforcement Only

Coopertown Police Department is hosting Below 100 & DUI Refresher on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 8 am to 5 pm CT, at the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department Station 5, located at 3752 Old Coopertown Rd, Springfield, TN 37172 [map]. The course offers 8 total hours of POST-approved training. This training is restricted to Law Enforcement personnel. Seating is limited.
Below 100 (4 hours)

Below 100 was formed to permanently eliminate preventable Line Of Duty Deaths (LODD) and injuries through innovative training and awareness. The goal of Below 100 is to reduce the LODD to fewer than 100 per year, a number not seen since 1943. The training is a common-sense approach designed to focus on areas under an officer’s control.
DUI/SFST Refresher (4 hours)

Prerequisite – Students must have completed a POST-approved 24-hour (or more) DUI and SFST course prior to attending this course. A copy of the student’s prior DUI and SFST training certificate must be presented prior to taking this course.
The goal of this course is to ultimately increase the deterrence of DUI violations; thereby reducing the number of crashes, deaths, and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
Upon successfully completing this session, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the current DUI problem.
• Identify typical cues of Vehicle in Motion and typical observations made during Personal Contact.
• Obtain the skills necessary to detect, arrest, and prosecute alcohol- and drug-impaired motorcyclists.
• Understand the results of selected SFST validation studies.
• Define and describe the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).
• Define nystagmus and distinguish between the different types.
• Describe and properly administer the three SFSTs.
• Successfully complete a written examination to a standard of 75%
